What WADO can do for you

Ok, we will admit it. We are not alone in the web development industry. Website development is a very fast moving industry and all kinds of different methods of creating websites have been born to try and solve the problems. However, while one method fixes a problem, it also tends to create another problem unique to its self! So below we will be telling you how our WADO (Website Affordable Design) system compares to them.

Open Source Technologies

Imagine 1000 programmers and 1000 designers, who are bored and have nothing better to do that design and write code for free in order to feel good and improve their reputation a little? That is basically the core of the open source world. The whole "open source" part means that the code is made available to the public to change and use for free. Content Managment Systems such as Drupal and Joomla allow people to have websites that you can update for free, for free! All you pay for is the web hosting and to have modifications made to it. The problem however, is that once you have downloaded and installed a copy of the software, it can soon become outdated and new updated version needs to be installed. This can then break modifications and makes the whole process very error prone. However, you are forced to update the software because with it being "open source" it means that people can see the majority of the source code running your website and see published security reports and bug fixes online! If you don't update it, there is a good chance that someone will have a go at running those security threats against your website and do serious damage such as taking your website offline, stealing your customer details, clone your website and data to another site and compete against you, and much more...

With our system however, it is closed source, no 3rd party server side software is used in order to protect against such security threats, and when we update our system once, it automatically replicates itself to every website on our system. This gives you piece of mind, and something less to worry about.

Dreamweaver Software

The main problem with software based solutions is that in order to make an update, you need both the software (and correct version) to do the update and the source files used by the software and usually a huge learning curve and software license fees. This is why you can go to places like amazon.co.uk and search for books on dreamweaver (click here) to find books with hundreds if not thousands of pages! Also, once the site has been saved, you are not able to update the website yourself without also having a copy of dreamweaver! You are then limited to updating your website from those computers that have dreamweaver or the software installed.

With our system you can update your website from any computer in the world that uses a modern web browser and has an internet connection. The learning curve is small due to onscreen instructions and latest technologies such as drag and drop to make moving things around on a page as easy as possible. There are also no license fees to get started.

Similar To Us

The closest competitors we have are other websites that create websites similar to us. However, before our system started being designed we had an in depth look around the internet to see what else was around. To our astonishment there was not a lot out there that had much practical purpose. Here are the common pitfalls we came across:

  • They would ask for credit card details up front before you know if you even want the system so they can start billing you after the 14 day trial.
  • The most common problem we found was that they would try and do so much that it was to hard to create even a simple website. In which case you had might as well pay a web developer to code your website or try something else!
  • The websites would be template driven meaning there is little chance of branding your website with your own colours, logo, etc. Also, in most cases you were restricted to only a few web pages.
  • No single price! Different packages would cut vital features out of your website unless you paid a lot more for it.
  • It is not their core business. This would mean that they would try and lure you in with getting a very cheap website, but then make it up by selling more services and products to you such as print work etc. This would then result in your website being of very low quality since most of their resources go in developing the core business and not their website development platform.

We made sure not to include any of those listed problems in our system! In some cases such as the templates we would offer a selection for those short on time, but the ability to change every part of the design is possible!
